A William IV silver meat dish and Sheffield Plate cover, Paul Storr of Storr & Mortimer, London, 1832, the cover Waterhouse, Hatfield & Co.Shaped-oval form, with shell and gadroon rim, the domed cover with similar border and foliage handle, engraved with arms and crest, stamped STORR & MORTIMER NEW BOND STREET,50.5cm., 19 3/4n.2387gr., 76 1/2oz.
Clear hallmarks. Some scratched and nicks in the base of the meat dish. The plain rim of the cover is partly detached. One or two small dings in dish and cover.

The arms are those of Cooke, baronets of Wheatley Hall, Yorkshire, impaling Feilden for Sir William Ridley Charles Cooke, 9th Bt. (5 October 1827 – 27 September 1894), who succeeded to the title upon the death of his father on 24 December 1851. Sir William was married first on 17 April 1855 to Harriet Eloise, daughter of the Rev. Jonathan Trebeck, from whom he obtained a divorce in 1863 on the grounds of her adultery with Marshall Elmsall. Sir William’s second marriage on 27 April 1871 was to Blanche Harriet Juanita Georgina (d. 1930), daughter of Sir William Henry Feilden, 2nd Bt. He died on 27 September 1894.
‘DEATH OF SIR W.R. COOKE.
‘A Doncaster correspondent telegraphs: :- News reached here to-day that Sir William Ridley Charles Cooke died last night at his country seat, Wheatley Hall. He had been suffering for some time from an incurable complaint. The deceased baronet succeeded to the title in 1857, and was 67 years of age. He was formerly captain in the 7th Hussars, and held a commission in the West York Yeomanry Cavalry.
