拍品描述
A CHINESE IMPERIAL EDICT RELATING TO JUELUO CHANGLIN
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795), DATED 1785 AND OF THE PERIOD
Constructed of multicoloured silk brocade woven with scattered ruyi-shaped clouds, mounted as a handscroll, and composed in standard form beginning with the declaration 'By Command of Heaven' in Manchu script flanked by two dragons woven in the brocade, followed by a handwritten Manchu inscription in multicoloured pigments, and two large Imperial seal impressions. The first seal impression is overlayed with the date and Qianlong's name in Manchu, whereas the second is overlayed with Han Chinese script with the date of the first day of Zheng Yue (New Year), Qianlong fifty years (1785) and Qianlong's name. This is then followed by a section of Han Chinese calligraphy describing the contents of the edict, also written in multicoloured pigments, followed by the opening four-character title declaration 'Fengtian Gaoming' (By Command of Heaven) flanked by dragons, also within the brocade.
355cm long, 31.5cm wide
OTHER NOTES:
The edict honours Jueluo Changlin's parents as being virtuous, and confers on them an honourary official position. It indicates a hitherto undocumented connection between Jueluo Changlin and Aixinjueluo Songali, that Jueluo Changlin's father was in fact Songali.
For a similar edict relating to Jueluo Changlin, see Christie's Hong Kong, 'The Imperial Sale', 30 May 2012, lot 4010.
