Northwest Africa 568 gm 10 x 7.5 cm Provenance: Italian private collection So-called oriented meteorites are formed when a meteorite does not topple over or begins to tumble on its fiery journey through the earths atmosphere. This often results in a rather convex shape of the meteorite. The chondrites were formed 4.5 billion years ago by the agglomeration of chondrules (silicate spheres embedded in a fine-grained groundmass) and dust in the solar nebula and are thus the oldest rocks in the solar system and much older than our Earth. Their composition corresponds to the chemical composition of the original solar nebula, with the exception of some elements and noble gases. This meteorite looks like a tool shaped by the fingers of our ancestors. The indentations on its edge are called regmaglypts. They were formed when the surface of the meteorite began to melt in the Earths atmosphere. Dies resultiert h?ufig in einer eher konvexen Form des Meteoriten. Die Chondriten entstanden vor 4.5 Mrd. Jahren durch Zusammenballung von Chondren (Silikatkügelchen welche in eine feink?rnige Grundmasse eingebettet sind) und Staub im solaren Nebel und sind damit die ?ltesten Steine des Sonnensystems und um vieles ?lter als unsere Erde. Ihre Zusammensetzung entspricht der chemischen Zusammensetzung des ursprünglichen Sonnennebels, mit Ausnahme einiger Elemente und Edelgase. Dieser Meteorit sieht aus wie ein Werkzeug, welches von den Fingern unserer Vorfahren geformt worden ist. Die Einkerbungen an seinem Rand werden Regmaglypten genannt. 2.4 The full tax is charged on all items marked * in the auction catalogue, i.e. VAT is charged on the sum of the bid price plus the surcharge for those items. The VAT will be refunded to Purchasers providing a validly stamped export declaration.

Condition Reports: 3.1 The items are auctioned in the condition existing at the time of the successful bid.
3.2 The items are described to the best of our knowledge and belief. However, Koller cannot accept any liability for the details provided in the catalogue. The items can be inspected during the preview. The Purchaser is therefore invited to inspect an item prior to the auction and, possibly with the support of an independent specialist advisor, to form its own opinion of the correspondence between the lot and the catalogue description. For the specifications of the items the print edition of the catalogue in the German language (including any later amendments) shall be exclusively applicable. Koller reserves the right to call in experts or specialists of its choice to give an opinion and to rely upon that opinion. Koller cannot be held liable for the correctness of such opinions. Neither any such expert opinions or reports, nor the descriptions of items provided by Koller or other statements pertaining to an item (including statements pertaining to the value thereof) constitute explicit or implicit warranties.
3.3 Subject to Clause 4 below, no guarantee or warranty whatsoever is given in respect of legal and material defects. The liabilities of the Seller vis-à-vis the Purchaser are limited to the same extent as the liabilities of Koller vis-à-vis the Purchaser.
