拍品描述

India, 17th century. The four-armed deity sitting on a short base with a mouse next to it, holding his tusk in his principal right hand, his left hand grasping a delicacy which he samples with his trunk. Ganesha is carrying an axe and a noose in the upper hands, wearing conical tiered head dress and backed by a halo. He is the Hindu god of good fortune and auspiciousness and the dispeller of problems and obstacles.
Condition: Good condition with surface wear, few minuscule nicks, occasional light scratches, and few small notches to the base.
Provenance: A notable private collector in Kensington, London, United Kingdom, according to the owner acquired at Christie's South Kensington.
