Pair of large bronze Dong Son style rain drums
South East Asia, 19th Century or earlier
the top surmounted by four animal finials, with further concentric bands meeting in the middle to a star type symbol, the sides with further concentric bands with various symbols enclosed, near the base are cast leaf shapes, with animal heads protruding near the base and cast handles either side, 39cm high x 51cm across (2)
Provenance: From the collection of the late Professor R M Hicks, OBE
Both are very weathered with some staining visible
