拍品描述: Chinese nephrite reddish-brown jade carved unto a tall squared vessel form, slightly narrowed to the lower body, with circle opening mouth and ring foot base. Essentially tubes with a square cross-section and a circular hollowed vessel, having corners in form of a traditional hair pin along the sides stylized faces were stacked as modules, one atop another.
The shape of the Cong with its square and circular shape could be interpreted as 'the unity of heaven and earth' where the square represents the earth and a circle represents the heaven. The jade shows reddish-brown color, with sporadic lighter-grayish-creme of natural inclusions along the surface, and displayed moist milky appearance. The jade incense burner presented upon an open work wooden stand.
