Utagawa Hiroshige II (1826-1869), Utagawa Toyokuni III (Kunisada) (1786-1865), print album The Miracles of the Goddess Kannon, Kannon reigenki-観音霊験記, Japan, Ca. 1859Album
accordion-mounted with 67 ôban tate e size prints, including the presentation page of the series with the titles of the individual prints. It is an album made in collaboration with Horoshige II and Toyokuni IIl.
The series is normally divided into three parts: 33 prints for the western provinces, 33 prints for the eastern provinces and 34 prints for the central provinces. Here, the album includes the 34 central and 33 western provinces (the 33 eastern provinces are missing). Each print is decorated with a scene with characters, illustrated with text and signed Kunisada or Toyokuni while in the upper part of the print is a landscape signed Hiroshige, inserted in a trompe l'oeil frame.
