AN INDIAN BRONZE FIGURE OF GANESHA
India, Kerala, 19th century or earlier. The four-armed deity sitting on a double lotus throne with a mouse next to it, holding his tusk in his principal right hand, his left hand grasping a delicacy which he samples with his trunk, and carrying an axe and a noose in the upper hands, wearing a striated dhoti and a conical tiered head dress, and a removable aureole. Ganesha is the god of good fortune and auspiciousness and the dispeller of problems and obstacles.

Condition: Good condition with surface wear, few minuscule nicks, occasional light scratches.
Provenance: Hungarian private collection. According to the current owner acquired from a private collector in Germany.
