拍品描述
A GROUP OF THREE BRONZE FIGURES OF NANDI
India, 17th to 18th century. The first and second cast standing on a rectangular platform, wearing a cowbell around the neck, and surmounted by a candle holder. The third depicted reclining on a rectangular plinth, richly adorned with multiple belled necklaces.

Nandi is Shiva's mount and the gatekeeper of Shiva in Hindu mythology. He is seen as full of ‘joy’ (nandi) in the presence of his master. An image of controlled virility and devotion, he would typically be placed in front of a Shiva temple facing a shrine.

Condition: Overall good condition with traces of age and wear, casting irregularities as well as small nicks and dents here in there. The second and third with some small losses.
Provenance: Austrian Private collection.

Weight: From left to right – 538.4 g, 960 g and 370.6 g
Dimensions: Height from left to right – 12.5 cm, 19 cm and 11.5 cm
