Antwerp,attributed) - A Brawl between Peasants in a Tavern'', after 1630, oil on canvas on cardboard, framing, c.19x24cm, frame marks,age and use to the canvas edges - The short-lived flemish master A.Brouwer was influenced by Pieter Breugel's (the Elder) subject matters in painting the daily life of peasants but the strongest influence in terms of the painting techniques was definitely the dutch artist Frans Hals. His late work is characterized by the use of a more nuanced color palette with few dominant tones and a rather boldly and loosely applied brushwork.
