Emperor?Xuantong collector's seal? 78cm high, 57cm high PROVENANCE: Private Somerset collection Acquired from Teresa Coleman, Hong Kong in the 1970's NOTE:?the seal indicates that the painting was once in the collection of the Emperor Puyi (1906-1967), who became the Xuantong Emperor at the age of two in 1908 but was forced to abdicate in 1912 due to the Xinhai Revolution. The scroll also bears a second seal of Chen Ju - It is likely that this is the painter rather than a collector as there are several recorded artists selling at auction under the same name.
