PRE-ANGKOR PERIOD, CIRCA 8TH CENTURY 吳哥(約八世紀) 砂岩象鼻天 depicted standing, well-carved in relief wearing a short dhoti with secured with tied sash beneath the curve of a round belly, the face with a cheerful grimace between wide flapping ears, and the trunk arching to grasp for sweets held in the left hand. Height 14 in., 35.5 cm. Another example held by the Art Institute of Chicago, ref. 2016.418, is similarly complete as the present lot, though shorter.

Payment in U.S. dollars may be made with cash; bank check or cashier’s check drawn on a U.S. bank; money order; or wire transfer unless other arrangements are made with Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, Inc. Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, Inc. reserves the right to hold merchandise purchased by personal check until the check has cleared the bank. The purchaser agrees to pay Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, Inc. a handling charge of $50 for any check dishonored by the drawee.
