KESI SILK: GUANGXU PERIOD (1875-1908) 孔雀綠地緙絲蝴蝶花卉紋旗袍 袍料:清光緒 the cloth intricately woven of silk floss threads in an attractive palette of pinks, coral, yellow, and blue against a jade green ground to show pairs of wide winged butterflies and bats in flight amidst blossoming sprays of peony, narcissus, and lotus, detailed with lingzhi stems and plump peached, tailored as a closefitting robe with wide sleeves, with toggle closure of the same silk running from the high collar down the side opening., the opposite side with a pocket. Lightly padded and lined in bright magenta. Length from collar to hem 50 1/2 in. x width across chest 18 1/2 in., 128.4 x 47 cm. The weaving in generally good stable condition, with some splitting and modeling, particularly at sites of joins.
