Chinese Tanxiang Wood Mirror, Qianlong Period

拍品描述
A Chinese tanxiang wood hand mirror dating from the Qianlong period. The back of the mirror is carved with flowers and a butterfly on a geometric ground. Carved green leaf tracery frames the mirror itself. Dimensions are: 12 inches tall X 5 1/2 inches wide, 30.5 cm X 14 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The mirror glass is broken. There are multiple areas of repair, including two areas of replacement to the leaf tracery surrounding the mirror. Provenance: From a San Francisco, California estate. A similar enameled example is housed in the collection of the Palace Museum in Beijing. A similar Zitan example was sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong on May 31, 2018, as lot 2.
