拍品描述: Fired clay. Pre-Columbian America, Colima, West Mexico, approx.13th cent. (time examined) Rare, powerfully designed figural vessel depicting a man sitting in front of a drum. The drum is barrel-shaped, upon which both hands are resting, legs and feet to the sides. The facial features are strongly expressive, very broad, half-open mouth, pointy nose, big cap with middle ridge, as well as round ornament. On the back of the man, who wears neck cuff and apron, arises a big funnel as vessel opening in a light arch. Painting with earth-red and white. Restoration to the funnel, complete good condition. The Colima Culture is named after the Mexican city Colima, where it was situated approx. 200 BC to 400. HEIGHT 19,5 CM, LENGTH 22,4 CM Former collection of M.
