In the three-volume picture booklet Azuma asobi – in English “ Amusements in the Eastern Capitol City“ - Hokusai illustrated daily life events from the lives of common people in Edo. Several pages include Kyoka poems, whose author was Asakusa no Ichihito. Both artisans are from the village Imato on the shore of Sumidagawa split bamboo in individual strips, which are required for basket weaving.
