Netsuke, ivory. Japan, around 1800 until 1st half 19th cent.
This nice boy stands upright on a rectangular base with a seal inscription below, therefore an Ingyo netsuke, earlier presumably only used for this purpose. The karako (boy in Chines. style) wears a floor-length robe and is holding a very little dog with both hands. Defined age characteristics and patina, himotoshi through the base, very good preservation.
