拍品描述: Bronze with gilding. Siam, Ayutthya Royal Empire, 16th to 17th cent. In its wholeness, a very rare bronze sculpture of a standing Shakayamuni, offering with one hand the abhayamudra, gesture of "granting protection". The other hand rests on the seam of a coat-like, draped Uttarasanga garment. Buddha is barefoot, stands on a round lotus podest and has a head that widens upward, accentuated by a tall (flame). The curls in form of symbolic "rays"; facial features typical for Ayutthya style resp. also for the predecessor Sukhothai, are particularly visible in profile. The base is multi-tiered and massive. Mostly preserved lacquer gilding, patina and age characteristics. HEIGHT 64,5 CM From a German collection
