拍品描述: Grey stone. Nepal, approximatley 12nd - 14th century, possibly earlier A very rare stone sculpture of Buddha seated in padmasana on an unusual large and lobed lotus throne, one hand with bhumisparsha mudra while the other is resting on his lap holding patra ( a symbol of the order), with an elongated head, displaying a sensitive facial expression with lowered eyes, ushnisha topped of a lotus bud slightly curved backward, the figure displays fragments of an openworked nimbus. Traces of age due to weathering, very fine craftsmanship, remnants of colour in the base section, mounted on a wooden base. HEIGHT (WITH BASE) 31,5 CM From a private German collection, afterwards collection Sohel Ch., New Delhi - Vienna A noteworthy share of the antiques offered here – around 130 lots – originate from the Collection Sohel Ch., a successful business man from Delhi who spent many years in Vienna. The part of his collection, which we here offer, was mainly acquired in the art trade of Vienna. The chief reason for his collecting activity, which he perpetuated with considerable specialized knowledge, sense for quality and great committment, was to establish a private Asian museum in his native city of New Delhi.
