拍品描述: Red lacquer carving. China, presumably early 19th cent. An elaborate and decorative carved red lacquer box tihong (China), curved surfaces, the lower part with a stepped foot ring and the upper, flat surface presenting a classical motif: An island in a lake amidst pavilions and large trees some scholars (literati) accompanied by servants. The scenery is encircled by a rocky landscape. An elaborate and artful lacquer work with deeply incised carving and accurately crafted details. Unique borders depicting abstract bats and a three-part petal motif. The exterior surface, slightly carved and presenting four large medallions with richly composed flowers and the depiction of the Eight Treasures of Buddhism within. The cover shows various motifs, bottom and interior sides in monochrome black lacquer. Very good condition. HEIGHT 12,3 CM, DIAMETER 34,7 CM From an Austrian private collection, afterwards collection Sohel Ch., New-Delhi - Vienna A noteworthy share of the antiques offered here – around 130 lots – originate from the Collection Sohel Ch., a successful business man from Delhi who spent many years in Vienna. The part of his collection, which we here offer, was mainly acquired in the art trade of Vienna. The chief reason for his collecting activity, which he perpetuated with considerable specialized knowledge, sense for quality and great committment, was to establish a private Asian museum in his native city of New Delhi.
