Porcelain. China, late Qing to Republic, approx. 19th cent. – beginning 20th cent.
A formal, interesting little vase in form of an angular cong, a ritual object from the Neolithic Era. The archaic cong were of jade and had no bottom, the form as vase developed first much later. Green-grey Celadon glaze, for cong typical ribbing was hier designed after bagua – the Eight Mystic Trigrams. On bottom is a blue retrospective Six Character Mark in seal script Da Qing Qianlong nian zhi 大清 乾隆 年製. Very good condition.
