Bronze with gilding. Sino-Tibet, Qing Dynasty, 18th – 19th cent.
An interesting and massively cast seal with square seal area displaying a large symbol of the Kalacakra. This Kalacakra literally means "Wheel of Time" and is the last and most important Buddhist tantra from the 10th cent., as well as basis of the Tibetan calendar. The handle of the seal ist lobed three times to symbolize Triratna, also here depicted in relief. The seal base shows a platform surrounded on four sides by rows of lotus leaves. Partly very beautiful preserved fire gilding.
