Description A large Japanese enameled porcelain "Cranes and Waves" bowl, Kanzan Denshichi (1821-Circa 1890)
Meiji period, late 19th Century
Of tapered cylindrical form, the exterior decorated en grisaille with flying cranes above crashing waves, punctuated by areas of color. The interior with flowering prunus in gilt, "brocade" border to rim, underside inscribed "Dai Nippon Kanzan sei".

Condition Report Overall general good condition, minor wear to gilding, small area of light discoloration to well, small grey dot to side of well, scattered small dark spots and pits in glaze, three areas on foot of possible polishing/restored kiln support marks, 1/4 inch firing/glaze flaw to underside.
