Description Chinese Cinnabar lacquer box and cover, of square outline with canted corners, the cover is finely carved in high relief of a scene with figures in and around a dwelling within a landscape surrounded by trees and mountains, all raised above a dense lower ground of geometric motifs mimicking the earth, water, and the sky, the sides are carved in a tight geometric coffered pattern with repeating wànzì symbols to represent the auspicious footprints of the Buddha, the base and interior with black lacquer. 2.75?
