姑蘇版套色木版畫《金山新建勝景》 十七/十八世紀PROVENANCEAcquired in Europe, 1980's, thereafter by descent來源20世紀80年代購於歐洲,後由家族成員繼承This print depicts the famous island of Jinshan, a small island on the Bay of Hangzhou, famous for its Buddhist temple. The rugged island and temple--situated a 100 kilometers southeast of Suzhou--was a popular subject in Chinese painting and was even depicted by the Japanese artist Kano Sanraku in 1630. Here the printmaker places the temple at the center of the composition, where it is surrounded by a whorl of activity. A twin of this print was sold 5 December 2019 at Van Ham Art Auctions, lot 2053.
