拍品描述: Description JOHANN WYRSCH (SWISS 1732-1798) Portrait of Albrecht Fridrik Gysi; Portrait of Johana Gysi (c.1767) each inscribed signed and dated (on the reverse) oil on canvas 68 x 55 cm (each) (2) Wyrsch began his studies in 1745 as a portrait painter with Johann Michael Suter in Lucerne. Between 1753 and 1754 he toured in Italy, he mainly stayed in Rome and Naples. After his studies in Italy, he returned to Switzerland and began his career as a portrait painter. In 1768 he moved to Besan?on, where he painted many portraits of respected people. Together with the sculptor Luc Breton, whom he had met in Rome, he founded the academy for painting and drawing école régionale des beaux-arts de Besan?on in 1773. He proposed to the Council of Lucerne in 1783 to found a School of Drawing to teach young students in drawing and modeling. Unfortunately at the Conquest of Nidwalden, he was killed by a French soldier under the siege of Napoleon Bonaparte. Notes INTERIORS - HOMES & ANTIQUES
