Description A POLYCHROME-PAINTED LACQUERED PAPIER-M?CHé KASHMIRI LIDDED BOX, KASHMIR, NORTHERN INDIA, 19TH CENTURY, of octagonal shape resting on a flat base, surmounted by a convex lid, gilt and lacquered, the body decorated with a band of polychrome-painted floral decoration, the lid with a central carnation flanked by roses, buds and two birds holding flowers in their beaks, bordered by a band of floral scrolls, the gold-painted ground with fine vegetal scrolls, 20.5cm x 10.5cm x 6.5cm.
