A well carved netsuke with incised details and subtle staining
Signed: Tomotsugu

This is compositionally close to a netsuke signed Minkoku in the Gō Collection, Tokyo National Museum (Arakawa, pp. 148-149). Most recorded treatments of the subject seem to be by Tomochika or his pupils. See another in Arakawa's catalogue of the collection, pp. 164-165, no. 318.

Condition: Minor hair cracks

Please note: this lot contains ivory and is therefore subject to the relevant trade restrictions in correspondence with CITES regulations. The import of ivory in to the United States has been banned.
