Perched on two large millet ears. The eyes are inlaid in horn
Signed: Hakuryu

The only recorded netsuke of the subject by Hakuryu was in the Fraser collection, sold at Sotheby's London, 20th November 1961, lot 28, to E.E. Simmons, resold by the same auctioneers, 28th April 1970, lot 35. Good condition.

Please note: this lot contains ivory and is therefore subject to the relevant trade restrictions in correspondence with CITES regulations. The import of ivory in to the United States has been banned. Customers should familiarize themselves with the relevant Cites regulations before bidding. More information can be obtained through the saleroom.
