Carved as the head of a mythical deer-like creature with scrolling lines around its neck; the seal beneath carved with the character sen. The eyes inlaid in dark horn
Unsigned, circa 1820.

A similar netsuke, supposedly carved from bone, is illustrated in Atchley & Davey, The Virginia Atchley Collection, no. N112. Two others, in amber and hippo tooth, are in a US East Coast collection
