A RARE AND VERY FINE CARVED CHINESE WHITE JADE 'GU' VASE. The stunning vase has a square body with flared open mouth and a tapered foot. It's carved with a set of four flanges. The mid-section is finely carved with archaic patterns, taotie masks, and other auspicious symbols. The trumpet neck has four large lappets rising towards the flared rim. Each section of the neck is decorated with repeated geometrical patterns. The composition is sophisticated, the grayish-celadon Jade colors and its golden-brown sporadic inclusions are simply a feast for the eye.
