China, early Qing dynasty, 17th – 18th century. The blanc-de-chine porcelain pillow beautifully modelled as a boy lying on his belly and looking to the side with sleepy and yet still curious eyes.
Condition: One firing crack to base, old wear and traces of use, otherwise very good condition. Provenance: From the collection of Georg Weifert (1850-1937). Thence by descent in the same family. Weifert was a Serbo-Austrian industrialist and the first governor of the Federal Bank of the Kingdom of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia.
