China, late Qing dynasty. The Tang style mirror is cast in the centre with a crouching beast with open mouth surrounded by six smaller ‘lions’ amid fruiting grapevines, the outer field with birds in flight amidst further grapevine below a narrow border of florets.
Condition: Good condition with signs of erosion, a minor chip to the rim and patina with large areas of malachite green. Provenance: English private collection.
