Original Louis XIV Armorial Book Cover, Dentelle du Louvre with Royal Crest to both sides; now converted to an ink-blotter and previously used on the desk of Banker Siegfried Kramarsky and his wife Lola. Inside is a note to Mr. & Mrs. Kramarsky possibly referring to this item from an "F. Fliess." Light age related wear. Height 17 1/2 inches (44.5 cm.) X width 12 inches (30.5 cm.). Provenance: Siegfried Kramarsky was the owner of van Gogh's "Dr. Gachet" painting which sold Christie's May 1990 for $82.5 Million. Christie's continued to sell the collections of Mr. Kramarsky through 1993 and this desk blotter was sold at Christie's East in May of 1993 to the consignor.
