TWO JAPANESE GOSU SATSUMA PIECES MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY One a tall baluster vase decorated in thick enamels with a continuous scene of auspicious designs, curtains with brocade patterns, maples leaves, Genji ko no zu symbols referring to specific chapters in the Tale of Genji, and a large phoenix above, the neck with a band of lappets, inscribed 'Satsuma'; the other a koro of bulbous form raised on three shaped feet, with a large kirin prancing above scrolling waves, with chrysanthemum flowers to the reverse and the shoulder with fan-shaped panels, with a faint signature Satsuma, 32.5cm and 16cm respectively.
