Arabic manuscript on stout paper heightened with gold, 3 lines of text, upper line in thuluth black script reserved in clouds agains cream coloured ground and decorated with polychrome floral motifs, 2 written in black neat naskh script of a hadith, ruled in gold and polychrome borders. The outer border stylized with Iris floral motifs.

CATALOGUE NOTE:
Kazasker Mustafa Izzet, born in Tosya in 1801, an Ottoman composer, poet and statesman best known for his calligraphy. He served at the Imperial court where he learned thuluth and naskh scripts. He was certified by Moustafa Wasif. He spent three years at the Sultan's court. His major contribution to Ottoman calligraphy was to develop refined versions of thuluth and naskh scripts, based on the earlier work of Hafiz Osman, Celaleddin and Rakim.
