Himalayan Art. A thangka depicting Avalokitesvara in the Potalaka Pure Land Sino/Tibet, 18th century . An elegant thangka depicting the Bodhisattva of Compassion in his four-arm variant Sadaksari-Lokesvara, embellished with lavish jewellery, he holds in his two hands extended outwards the mala rosary and a lotus flower. The others close to his chest in manidharamudra, enclose the jewel of desire, cintamani. Seated with his legs in padmasana he is set inside a splendid white and orange pagoda which encloses ten other figures in prayer, whilst outside the palace walls, some small monks seem to be in pilgrimage towards the main entrance.
