Himalayan Art. A pair of stirrups Tibet, 12th-14th century . Rare and significant pair of Tibetan or Mongolian stirrups (yob) made of finely chiselled iron and featuring precious silver and gold coating. Note the refined workmanship of the fretwork featuring golden dragons intertwining in a hypnotic pattern. The footrest's platform is supported by an arch, also in silver-plated iron with exquisitely-worked large dragon heads. Provenance: Private collection Milan, Italy.
