拍品描述
Description Latin America, Mexico, ca. 1970. A wonderful ensemble of six hand-carved and hand-painted wooden bulls (toros in Spanish) of various sizes. All present with pointed horns, finely delineated piercing eyes, leather ears, and complementary hues of charcoal grey, black, and white - most with attractive white circles and markings on their coats. These bulls are part of the alebrije tradition. Alebrijes are in essence animal figures hand-carved from wood and then hand-painted with lively patterns in contrasting bold hues. These examples are more unusual in that they are embellished with neutral hues, standing apart from the more colorful alebrijes. Size of largest: 7.2" W x 5.45" H (18.3 cm x 13.8 cm) Provenance: ex-private Moore collection, Denver, Colorado, USA, acquired prior to 1990 All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. We ship worldwide and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience. #154691 Condition Report Two are missing their ears. All have light wear commensurate with age but they are overall in very nice condition.
