Description Latin America, Mexico, ca. 1864 to 1867. A framed embroidered silk handkerchief from Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico's estate during the French Intervention period in Mexico 1864-1867. The ivory silk handkerchief is decorated with lovely embroidery including Maximilian's imperial monogram at the center surrounded by colorful floral flourishes of burgundy, peach, yello, green, and blue hues and a golden embroidered border. Emperor Maximilian (Spanish: Fernando Maximiliano Jose Maria de Habsburgo-Lorena; 6 July 1832 ? 19 June 1867) was the sole monarch of the Second Mexican Empire.
