拍品描述
Description Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Calima culture, ca. 600 BCE to 200 CE. A beautiful terracotta bowl elaborately decorated with incised geometrics and a rich red slip ground. The Calima people lived in central Colombia in the general area of Cali, Columbia, and are famous for their goldwork; however, they also produced charming pottery works like this example. Scholars posit that the Chorrera of ancient Ecuador influenced the Calima people via riverine patterns of migration and trade as evidenced most notably by the “alcrraza” – double spouted strap-handle vessel as well as incised iconography like we see in this example.
