拍品描述
Description Near East, Persia, ca. 10th to 12th century CE. A finely-shaped bowl with a creamy white glaze and pretty manganese-colored motif of a fish in tondo, with decorative geometric motifs surrounding the fish. This plate was made at a time of demand for luxurious decorative ceramics, with the finest pieces going to the palaces of the elite. Throughout ancient Iran, many different kinds of ceramics were made, with some of the most specialized pieces being made by a single artisan or town's workshops. Many bowls of this style have been found in excellent condition in buried caches, thought to have been hidden in the face of oncoming Mongol invasions in the 13th century CE. Size: 8.2" W x 2.45" H (20.8 cm x 6.2 cm) This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase. Provenance: private Vero Beach, Florida, USA collection All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. We ship worldwide and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience. #141798 Condition Report Intact, with a few small chips, nicks, and scratches commensurate with age. TL drill hole on underside. Motifs are well preserved with light deposits.
