拍品描述: Description Ancient Greece, Athens (Attic), ca. 540 to 530 BCE. A stupendous Attic squat kylix (drinking cup), the vessel presenting a classic form with a deep bowl and twin, upturned loop handles, all upon a concave base. The exterior walls are finely decorated via black-figure technique with a seated Dionysos depicted in profile and holding his drinking horn amidst lovely grapevines, with a stylized palmette at either end. Black bands on the body and handles as well as a concentric circle on the base further adorn the piece. Of the utmost artistry and technique, a beautiful example associated with the celebratory ceremonies of the Dionysiac cult.
