拍品描述: Description Ancient Egypt, Early Dynastic to Old Kingdom Period, 1st to 6th Dynasty, ca. 3100 to 2181 BCE. A gorgeous jar with a round but stable base, a tapered shoulder, a corseted neck, and a flared rim, all hand-carved from pale pink granite with mottled gray, white, and black inclusions. Within the spherical body is a deep, drilled-out basin that perhaps held offerings, small trinkets, or oils, and traces of the original drilling striations are still visible. Smooth surface textures envelop the exterior surfaces and make for a pleasing tactile experience.
