拍品描述: surfaces and edges, inscribed on paper label 'Jade axe bought at D. Rankine's Sale Muthil, 1902', 26.5cm, long x 6.6cm. Provenance: James Ewing Somerville's father, Rev. Alexander Neil Somerville (1813-1889) travelled to Australia and New Zealand in 1877/ 1878 with his son William Francis Somerville. They stayed with the son of Captain William Cargill (1784-1860) who sailed from London to become one of the first settlers in New Zealand. They landed in Otago which was renamed Dunedin by the new settlers. There is a Somerville Street in Dunedin, New Zealand, named after Rev. Alexander Neil Somerville.
