拍品描述: Antique Circa 1876 Framed Oil on Canvas by Howard Campion Signed Dated & Relined. If any is information is offered it was casually compiled from internet research, provided by the consignor or information the work was accompanied with: You are advised to do your own investigations or consult with an expert in the field. This is one of many art pieces assigned to us on a consignment basis from an Art Gallery/Antique Shop in business at that location for over 50 years. The owners are retired and trying to liquidate all it's contents in-order to sell their street front retail gallery near Glendale California Howard Campion was active/lived in California / England. Howard Campion is known for portraits, landscape, still life. Born in England in 1839. Campion studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. During 1868-69 Campion painted in Virginia City, NV. Coming then to California he painted portraits of the Tully family in Monterey. From 1871-76 he maintained a studio in San Francisco at 240 Montgomery. During this time he made painting trips to Oregon. He was active in Gilroy, CA circa 1900 and then returned to England. His work includes landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. Exh: Calif. State Fair, 1869-87; Mechanics' Inst. (SF), 1871, 1872, 1887; Royal Academy of Arts, 1876-83; London 1909 (award). In: San Jose Historical Society; Oregon Historical Society; Robt L.
