Muromachi period (1333-1573), 16th centuryHirazukuri, iorimune forged in mokume hada with visible jinie, the tempered edge gunome midare with some hakogata tendencies, the ubu tang with indistinct file marks and two holes (one plugged), with a two-piece silver-foil habaki, 11 7/8in (30.2cm) long; the 19th-century koshirae comprising a black-lacquer ishime saya with an iron kojiri decorated with lightning patterns in silver hirazogan, the tsuka fitted with shakudo ishimeji fuchi-gashira decorated with lightning and cloud designs in gold hirazogan, and shakudo menuki formed as archery equipment with gilt highlights, the iron tanto tsuba forged as a chrysanthemum, with details in silver and gold nunome-zogan
