KOSE SHOSEKI (1843-1919), MATSUKAWA HANZAN (1818-1882), BAITEI KAKEI (date unknown) and after TANI BUNCHO (1763-1840) Meiji era (1868-1912), 1890-1903Comprising four accordion-fold albums and five illustrated books; a complete set of four accordion-fold albums, each mounted with 18 oban yoko-e prints, entitled Shichijuniko meika gajo haru, natsu, aki, fuyu (Flowers in the 72 Divisions of the Solar Year, Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter), sealed Kose Shoseki, 1890; a watoji (Japanese-style book binding) book of Jiguchi andon zenpen (A Lantern of Puns, Part 1), published by Wan'ya Isaburo, signed Matsukawa Hanzan ga; a watoji book of Keisai soga nihen (Sketches by Kakei, Part Two), published by Eirakuya Toshiro (Tohekido), signed Baitei Kakei hitsu; the last, a complete set of four watoji books entitled Nihon meizan zue, ten, chi, jin (Famous Mountains of Japan), published by Toyodo, 1903 (9) 8 1/2 x 6in (21.5 x 15.2cm) smallest10 1/2 x 7 1/2in (26.5 x 19.2cm) largest 注脚 Provenance:Shichijuniko meika gajo only, Benjamin Franklin March, Jr. (1899-1934), curator of Asiatic Art, Detroit Institute of Arts (1927-1931)
