Bishop Estate Auction American Art Galleries, Madison Square South, New York, a ten day auction that sold for the then record total of $411,973 (Newspaper clipping enclosed); heavily illustrated with a large section of Chinese Porcelains, Chinese Bronzes, a few Chinese Cloisonne pieces, Chinese Carved Red Cinnabar Lacquer and a section of similar Japanese Objects, mixed in with European Decorative Objects and Paintings. Height 13 1/4 inches (34 cm.). Professionally bound to Library Standards with a few pages loose and wrinkled, a Japanese image is missing. Note: The Bishop Jades were donated to the Metropolitan Museum in New York in 1902 and the 2 Vol. Catalogue also from 1906 for the jades has sold for $206,500 at Christie's New York.
