Creamy White Cloisonné Vase, Japan, Meiji period, trumpet shape with long highly waisted body below a slightly domed shoulder, decorated with bamboo and sparrows in flight in silver and gold wires, respectively, silver rim, Ando workshop mark on base, ht. 9 1/2 in. Provenance: Purchased from Orientations Gallery, New York, in 1989. Estimate $3,000-5,000 minor glazing flaw to shoulder line, silver tarnishing, two-inch underglaze cracks around neck.
